Prayer for the Grieving

Gracious God, please comfort the sorrowful. When a loved one dies, it changes our lives so quickly. Help those who are living in grief to know Your loving embrace. Teach them that the dear ones they miss are truly living in the joy and peace of your heavenly kingdom. And as the pain eases and the healing begins, give them the strength to reach out to help those who follow them. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

He Shall Hear

Prayer for the Separated and Divorced

Gracious God, for some among us, dreams and hopes have died. Marriages have ended. Promises and hearts have been broken. Heal those broken hearts, we pray. Help those persons whose marriages have failed to know that the one never failing love can be found in you. When they feel lonely, make them aware of your Spirit. When they feel guilty, help them to know your forgiveness. When there is anger, send them your peace. We pray for these gifts in the name of your son, Jesus. Amen.

Prayer for the Sick

Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need. Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your healing presence. Show your mercy as you close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits. May these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and so join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through the Lord Jesus who healed those who believed. Amen.

Prayer for Stewardship

Almighty and ever-faithful Lord, gratefully acknowledging Your mercy and humbly admitting our need, we pledge our trust in You and each other. Filled with desire, we respond to Your call for discipleship by shaping our lives in imitation of Christ. We profess that the call requires us to be stewards of Your gifts. As stewards, we receive Your gifts gratefully; cherish and tend them in a responsible manner; share them in practice and love with others; and return them with increase to the Lord. We pledge to our ongoing formation as stewards and our responsibility to call others to that same endeavor. Almighty and ever-faithful God, it is our fervent hope and prayer that You who have begun this good work in us will bring it to fulfillment in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Parents' Prayer for Their Children

O God the Father of mankind, who hast given unto me these my children, and committed them to my charge to bring them up for Thee, and to prepare them for eternal life: help me with Thy heavenly grace, that I may be able to fulfill this most sacred duty and stewardship. Teach me both what to give and what to withhold; when to reprove and when to forbear; make me to be gentle, yet firm; considerate and watchful; and deliver me equally from the weakness of indulgence, and the excess of severity; and grant that, both by word and example, I may be careful to lead them in the ways of wisdom and true piety, so that at last I may, with them, be admitted to the unspeakable joys of our true home in heaven, in the company of the blessed Angels and Saints. Amen.

Prayer for the Elderly and Those Who Care for Them

Gracious God, we ask you to bless especially your children who have grown old. When they can no longer care for themselves, send them loving caretakers who appreciate their wisdom and the richness of their experience. Send your angels to keep them safe as long as they live and to lead them home to you when their work is done. Bless the families of the elderly with insight and good judgment. Send your Holy Spirit to help them make wise decisions, and grant them the patience to care for those who once cared for them. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer for Employment

God, our Father, I turn to you seeking your divine help and guidance as I look for suitable employment. I need your wisdom to guide my footsteps along the right path, and to lead me to find the proper things to say and do in this quest. I wish to use the gifts and talents you have given me, but I need the opportunity to do so with gainful employment. Do not abandon me, dear Father, in this search, but rather grant me this favor I seek so that I may return to you with praise and thanksgiving for your gracious assistance. Grant this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

The Weight of the World

Prayer for Grandparents

Gracious God, grandparents are among the most special of your people. We ask you to bless them with peace and joy in the years of their maturity. Help us to appreciate their wisdom and to respect them as they deserve. We ask special blessings on the grandparents who have been given the task of raising their grandchildren. Bless them with strength and courage. We ask this in the name of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Beginning Experience Prayer

Oh, Heavenly Father, through you, we know all things are possible. Although we don’t always understand the paths that our lives take, we know it is part of your plan and through you; we have come to Beginning Experience and offer these intentions.

We ask you to bless the current team members as they continue to deal with the hurt of their loss. May they have courage to push through the emotional journey to become whole again.

For teams that are struggling to continue the ministry, may they be blessed with abundant volunteers, spiritual guidance of clergy, and financial stability.

Through continued outreach, please help us draw in those who are hurting as future participants. Help us successfully facilitate them so they can start the healing process.

For the children of families who have suffered a loss. May the Beginning Experience youth programs continue to grow so they too, can be reached and experience healing.

Finally, we pray for our brothers and sisters who were former team members. May their lives continue to grow in positive, fulfilling directions and may they always feel your blessings.

Through this we give our thanks, forever in your name. Amen
